Here When You Need Us Most: Special Relief Loan for Members Impacted by the Government Shutdown

If you’re facing financial uncertainty because of the government shutdown, we want you to know we’re here to support you. Our goal is to support our members in challenging times, and we’re introducing a special low-interest Relief Loan designed to help you manage until things return to normal.

Relief Loan Details

  • Interest Rate: 1.75% APR
  • Maximum Term: Up to 12 months
  • Loan Amount: Up to $5,000 or your net monthly pay (whichever is lower)
  • Income Verification: Net monthly income confirmed with a paystub or direct deposit
  • Eligibility:
    • You must be a member as of October 1, 2025, or earlier.
    • You must currently be employed as a federal government employee or active duty service member impacted by the government shutdown.

How to Apply

Gather Documentation: You must provide a recent paystub if you do not have direct deposit with AmFirst.

Get Support: Our team will guide you through the process and answer any questions. Visit a branch or call 205-320-7401 to see if you qualify.

Relief loans are available exclusively to members who joined on or before October 1, 2025. Applicants must provide proof of current employment as a federal government employee or active duty service member directly impacted by the government shutdown and verification of net monthly income. Loan approval and terms are subject to credit union review and eligibility criteria. Additional restrictions may apply.

Scheduled System Maintenance between 4 a.m. – 9 a.m. on Sunday, October 26. Online banking, debit card, and ATM services may be briefly unavailable. Members are encouraged to complete transactions outside of this period.
