AmFirst Honored as Wells Fargo Outstanding Corporate Citizen at National Philanthropy Day Celebration

Birmingham, Ala—November 13, 2025— AmFirst has been named the 2025 Wells Fargo Outstanding Corporate Citizen by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Alabama Chapter, in celebration of National Philanthropy Day. This annual event honors the impact of philanthropy in Alabama and recognizes organizations that elevate giving as a way of life.

Selected from a distinguished group of nominees and nominated by United Way of Central Alabama, AmFirst was recognized for its unwavering commitment to transforming communities through generosity, volunteerism, and advocacy. The credit union’s achievements exemplify the theme of National Philanthropy Day: making the world better starts with purposeful giving in local communities.

In 2025, AmFirst and its employees contributed nearly $388,000 to United Way agencies across five Alabama regions, supporting services in Central Alabama, Cullman County, North Talladega County, East Central Alabama, and Southwest Alabama.

Beyond financial contributions, AmFirst employees dedicated more than 1,800 volunteer hours to local nonprofits, participated in more than 1,000 community events, and led impactful initiatives in 2025, including:

  • Annual Book Drive: Collected more than 1,500 books for children to donate to Better Basics.
  • Feeding Families Across Alabama: Provided more than 55,000 meals to individuals in need.
  • Support for Love All Pantry: Donated $1,000 to combat food insecurity in Mobile, AL.
  • Rising Star Program: Since 2009, the program has recognized outstanding students and awarded six $5,000 scholarships this year alone.
  • Community First Initiative: Empowered employees to select and raise $40,000 each for four nonprofits in 2025—Girls Inc. of Central Alabama, Safehouse, Cahaba Valley Health Care, and Pathways. The 2025 recipients are The WellHouse, Garrett’s Place, United Way Priority Veteran, and Better Basics.

“Giving back to the community is not just part of our mission—it’s at the core of our identity,” said Kevin Morris, President and CEO of AmFirst. “We believe that philanthropy is about showing up when people need us most and living the standard our members and communities deserve.”

AFP Alabama Chapter has been celebrating National Philanthropy Day since 1982, recognizing those whose generosity fuels positive change throughout one of America’s most charitable states.

AmFirst’s dedication to people helping people continues to drive positive change, and the credit union’s employees and members remain committed to supporting causes that matter most across Alabama.
