Clear The List for Classrooms

At AmFirst, we know that great school years start in great classrooms—and that too often, teachers are the ones quietly covering the cost of classroom supplies.

AmFirst’s Clear the List for Classrooms is our back-to-school giveback campaign designed to support K–12 teachers in the communities we serve.

This year, we’re inviting teachers across our 13-county service area to share their Amazon Wish Lists with us for a chance to receive direct support from AmFirst and our members.

How It Works

1. Teachers submit their wishlist.

K–12 teachers in AmFirst’s 13-county service area can complete a short form on our website, including:

  • Name
  • School
  • Grade level
  • Subject
  • Email address
  • Amazon Wish List link
  • Whether they are a first-time teacher
  • Whether they teach at a Title I school
  • How many years they have been teaching
  • Whether they are an AmFirst member
  • Whether they would like AmFirst to visit their school if their Wishlist is cleared

Note: The questions about first-time-teacher status, Title I status, years of experience, and AmFirst membership are collected for program-reporting and outreach purposes only. Winners are chosen at random, and these answers do not affect anyone’s chances of being selected.

2. AmFirst randomly selects classrooms to support.

From the eligible submissions, AmFirst will:

  • Randomly select 20 classrooms to receive a $100 contribution toward their Amazon Wish List.
  • Surprise 3 teachers by completely clearing their wish lists with a $1,000 check delivered in person at their schools.*
*Teachers who opt in on the form will be eligible for an in-school surprise visit if selected.

3. We share additional wish lists with our community.

For teachers whose lists are not selected for direct funding, AmFirst may feature their Amazon Wish List links on our social media channels for one week, encouraging our members and followers to donate and support local classrooms. We will feature a teacher’s wish list only with their advance opt-in permission, and will share only their first name, city, and school.

Eligibility (see disclosure below)

  • Open to K–12 classroom teachers who are Alabama residents age 19 or older
  • Must teach in one of AmFirst’s 13-county service areas
  • One submission per teacher
  • Amazon Wish List must be active and set up to receive items

Why We’re Doing This

Back-to-school is an exciting time, but it can also be expensive—especially for educators who go above and beyond for their students.

With AmFirst’s Clear the List for Classrooms, we’re honoring the dedication of local teachers by helping them start the school year with more of the tools, supplies, and resources they need. It’s one more way AmFirst invests in education, our communities, and the next generation.

Official Rules Disclosure

In honor of Back-to-School, AmFirst is supporting K–12 teachers across our 13-county service area through our AmFirst Clear the List for Classrooms sweepstakes. No purchase necessary. Read the rules below to participate.

1. Who Can Enter. You must be:

  • A legal Alabama resident;
  • 19 years or older; and,
  • A K–12 teacher employed at a school located in one of AmFirst’s 13-county service areas. The 13 eligible counties are: Bibb, Blount, Calhoun, Chilton, Coosa, Cullman, Jefferson, Shelby, St. Clair, Talladega, Tallapoosa, Walker, and Mobile counties.

Employees, officers, and directors of America’s First Federal Credit Union (AmFirst), their immediate family members (spouse, parents, siblings, children, and their spouses), and household members are not eligible. By entering, you agree to these rules.

2. How and When to Enter.

No purchase or payment is necessary to enter or win. A purchase does not increase your chances of winning. Limit one entry per person. All entry methods have an equal chance of winning.

  • Online Form: During the promotion period, visit AmFirst’s website at amfirst.org/news/supporting-k-12-teachers/ and complete the AmFirst Clear the List for Classrooms sweepstakes entry form in full. The form will ask for:
    • Name
    • School
    • Grade level
    • Subject
    • Email
    • Amazon Wish List link
    • Whether you are a first-time teacher
    • Whether you teach at a Title I school
    • How many years you have been a teacher
    • Whether you are an AmFirst member
    • Whether you would like AmFirst to visit your school if your wishlist is cleared

Note: The questions about first-time teacher status, Title I status, years of teaching experience, and AmFirst membership are collected for program reporting and outreach purposes only. They do not affect eligibility or your chances of winning; all winners are selected at random.

Only fully completed entries submitted during the promotion period will be eligible.

Promotion Period: The sweepstakes begins on July 27th at 9:00 a.m. Central Time, and ends on August 10th at 9 a.m. Central Time (the “Promotion Period”). Entries received outside the Promotion Period will not be eligible.

3. Prizes.

AmFirst will award the following prizes:

  • Twenty (20) Classroom Contributions:
    • Each of the 20 selected teachers will receive a $100 contribution toward the Amazon Wish List they submitted with their entry.
    • Approximate retail value (“ARV”) of each contribution: $100.00.
  • Three (3) Grand Prizes – Wishlist “Clear the List” Awards:
    • Three teachers will each receive a $1,000 check intended to fund the classroom items on their Amazon Wish List.
    • ARV of each grand prize: $1,000.00.

The contribution toward Amazon Wish Lists may be fulfilled by AmFirst purchasing items directly from the teacher’s list, making a payment toward the list, or another substantially similar method, in AmFirst’s sole discretion. Prizes cannot be transferred, substituted, or redeemed for cash, except that AmFirst reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value if advertised prizes become unavailable.

The value of any prize you receive may be considered taxable income. Winners are responsible for reporting and paying any taxes. AmFirst will issue IRS Form 1099-MISC as required by law for prizes or aggregate prizes totaling $600 or more to any individual.

4. Winner Selection.

On or about August 10, at 9:00 a.m. Central Time, AmFirst will randomly select:

  • Twenty (20) winners from among all eligible entries to receive the $100 classroom contribution; and
  • Three (3) winners from among all eligible entries to receive the $1,000 grand prize.

AmFirst’s decisions are final. Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.

Notification and Prize Fulfillment:

AmFirst will notify potential winners by email at the address provided on the entry form, on or about the drawing date, and may also attempt to reach winners by phone. AmFirst will then fulfill each prize by purchasing items from (or making a payment toward) the winner’s Amazon Wish List for the 20 classroom contributions, or by delivering a $1,000 check for the 3 grand prizes.

For grand prize winners, AmFirst may coordinate a school-based recognition or surprise visit if the teacher opted in on the entry form and school administration provides approval. If AmFirst is unable to contact a winner, if a winner does not respond within five (5) business days, is found ineligible, or cannot accept the prize as awarded, AmFirst may select an alternate winner from among the remaining eligible entries.

5. Rules for Participating.

AmFirst may disqualify any entries that are incomplete, fraudulent, generated by automated means, tamper with the sweepstakes, or otherwise violate these rules. By participating or accepting a prize, you agree to release and hold harmless AmFirst and its employees, officers, directors, agents, and representatives from any claim, loss, injury, or damage arising from participating in the sweepstakes or using the prize, except in cases of AmFirst’s gross negligence or willful misconduct.

AmFirst is not responsible for technical errors, lost, late, misdirected, or corrupted entries; for errors in sweepstakes administration; or for any incorrect or inaccurate information. Your personal information will be used only to administer the sweepstakes and contact winners, in accordance with AmFirst’s privacy policy. AmFirst will not share your information with third parties except as necessary to fulfill prizes or as required by law.

AmFirst may cancel, modify, or suspend the sweepstakes due to events beyond its control (for example, natural disasters, acts of God, or network failures). If the sweepstakes is canceled, modified, or suspended, AmFirst will post notice on its website and/or notify entrants by email and may, in its discretion, select winners from eligible entries received up to the time of the event. Any disputes arising out of this sweepstakes will be resolved through good-faith negotiation or, if necessary, binding arbitration in Birmingham, Alabama, under the American Arbitration Association’s rules.

6. Publicity.

By accepting a prize, you grant AmFirst permission to use your name, likeness, school, grade level, and city for promotional purposes in any media, including photos, video, and social media content related to the sweepstakes and back-to-school campaign, without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law.

Optional Social Media Feature. If your entry is not selected for a prize, AmFirst may—only with your separate opt-in consent given on the entry form—feature your first name, city, school, and Amazon Wish List link on AmFirst’s social media channels for up to one week to encourage voluntary community donations. This feature is optional and is not a prize; declining it does not affect your eligibility or chances of winning. Any items purchased through your Amazon Wish List by third parties are donations directly to you, and AmFirst does not collect, hold, or control those funds.
